DESCRIPTION

"Somerville Speakout" is Patrick Bryant's dramatic narration of the "Speakout" column from the Somerville (Massachusetts) Journal newspaper, set to the motorik orchestrations of Bert Kaempfert. "Speakout" transcribes anonymous telephone complaints by local residents that the Somerville Journal publishes without context, correction or attribution. Like a modern Federalist Papers or a hyperlocal WikiLeaks, "Speakout" enables residents to freely dialog about the pressing issues of the day, such as: trash collection, dog poop, parking tickets, bicyclists, hair, teenage fashion, and The Good Ol' Days (aka Not Now). Don't believe us? Try calling 617-776-9844 and speak your mind. The Somerville Journal will follow.

"Somerville Speakout" is the most sold item at the otherwise awesome Weirdo Records in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Patrick now lives in Portland, Oregon (kindly insert your own "put a bird on it" joke here) where he manages a solar-powered easy-bake oven food cart. When not over-enunciating Speakout entries, Patrick enjoys playing gluten-free disco at houseofsound.org and KZME. Patrick is currently recording a follow up in Los Angeles with producer Rick Rubin [or Steve Lillywhite?].
