DESCRIPTION
"Flin Flon is a modern day musical marvel. With Teenbeat Records mogul Mark Robinson at the helm on vocals and electric guitar, the great Matt Datesman on drums, and the wonderful Nattles on electric bass, Flin Flon is simply a cut above most contemporary music. Flin Flon is extremely dynamic. A drums and bass heavy trio, they are constantly working with rhythm and reframing rhythm within the context of rock & roll. Mark was in Unrest, Air Miami, and Olympic Death Squad. Matt was in True Love Always and Last Days Of May. Nattles was in Cold Cold Hearts. This qualifies them as a supergroup. Together they are Flin Flon."

FUN FACT
The band's name is taken from the lead character in the novel The Sunless City: From the Papers and Diaries of the Late Josiah Flintabbatey Flonatin by English writer J. E. Preston Muddock. The story is about a man named Josiah Flintabbatey Flonatin, who pilots a submarine through a bottomless lake. Upon passing through a hole lined with gold, he finds a strange underground city. Within the city, the local currency is tin, the streets are paved with gold, and the city is ruled by women. Flonatin, who is a bachelor, decides to escape the city, and does so by climbing out of a crater, which is actually an extinct volcano.

BIOGRAPHY
MARK ROBINSON
Mark founded the band Unrest at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia in 1982 and started his Teenbeat label in 1984. Other bands he started include Grenadine (with Jenny Toomey, 1991) and Air Miami (with Bridget Cross, 1994). Mark has released three solo albums this decade, including one on the Tomlab label.
He lived in the New York metropolitan area until his family moved to Washington, DC when he was eight-years-old. He was born in Mineola, New York and has lived in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland,
D.C., Wisconsin, and Massachusetts. He currently runs Teenbeat and
designs book and record covers.
MATT DATESMAN
Matt formed Operation Love with John Lindaman (also a Wakefield High School alum) in 1994. True Love Always (TLA) sprang from their ashes and released five albums and a myriad of singles. Matt manages a bagel restaurant in Charlottesville, Virginia. He also plays with fellow Charlottesvillian band The C'mon Children, who's name was coined by the Silver Jew's David Berman. He was born and raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
NATTLES
Natalie "Nattles" Mencinsky was born and raised in New Jersey and currently lives in New York, New York. In between she lived in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and California. Her first band was called The Cutthroats. She then joined ex-Bratmobile members Erin Smith and Allison Wolfe to form Kill Rock Stars' Cold Cold Hearts with Katherine Brown. She designs clothes for canines and her anscestors hail from the Ukraine.
ON "DIXIE"
The long-awaited third album from the label's most successful band of this decade. Danceable dry funk post-punk. Songs that were written around the bass and drums first and the guitar and voice second. Contemporary rock with an original melodic voice and vocals.
