This was a "gentelmanly release" between Teen-Beat and Mad Rover Records. Teen-Beat released the compact disc and Mad Rover the audio cassette. Mad Rover is producer John Baccigaluppi's label.

The track listing on the back of the CD differs from the order of songs on the compact disc.

A small number of CDs contained the incorrect audio master, but the correct label art. The music on these defects was instrumental salsa music.

REVIEW

In the guitar-strewn landscape of independent American music, it's a little jarring to encounter as formidable a vocalist as Patricia Rowland. Rowland's ruthlessly unique way of lyric-wrangling gives Vomit Launch their identity -- cynical, a little bitter, and thoughtful to the point of distraction -- and she dominates Dogeared, the band's latest and best. Lindsey Thrasher, Steve Bragg, and Lawrence Crane play improbably dramatic music, as hypnotic and urgent as it is simple, but Rowland controls the band's rotation. Alternating between wise guy and "Why me?," she's always powerfully emotive. The songs are wistful but never sentimental, and when Rowland delivers them, they're invested with several layers -- flip on the surface, fragile down below. This unity of words, music, and vocals is what sets Dogeared apart, and, hopefully, will draw more listeners to this evolving and involving band.
